Financial Aid General Information

The federal government has programs in place aimed at assisting students in need with the monetary cost of attending college. These programs are also available locally. If students qualify for these programs, the cost of their education can be subsidized by governmental funding. There are several ways the government can assist students financially.

Loans paid to an individual or an individual's parent/guardian to be used toward the cost of education qualify as financial aid. Upon graduation and following a grace period, the money is repaid on a schedule determined by a loan institution and the student's preferences.

Aid is also available in the form of government grants. These are monies issued to students based on individual need, student classification and economic status. In most cases, the grant does not require repayment.

A third form of financial aid is work-study aid. In many cases, student employment can be arranged by the Adventist school you are attending. This may include employment on-campus or in the surrounding community that is geared toward assisting students financially while they attend school.

The availability and amount of financial aid a student can receive is based on several factors:

  • Financial need
  • Academic performance
  • Location
  • Student classification
  • Available funds
  • Timeliness of application

For specific information on your options, please contact a representative at the Adventist school you are interested in attending.
