Campus of Southern Adventist University

Located in the Smoky Mountain foothills of Tennessee, Southern Adventist University offers an education that combines a stimulating academic environment with traditional Adventist values. We’re known for our welcoming spirit, our beautiful campus, and most importantly, our commitment to preparing students for a life of Christian service. At Southern, you will acquire power for mind, soul, and body.

Power for Mind

For the past 13 years, Southern has received a Top Tier ranking from the U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Colleges” guide. We’ve grown to offer more than 80 undergraduate majors, 12 master’s programs, and even a doctorate degree to our 3,100 students who come from nearly every state (and many different countries, too). Yet we maintain a small campus feel with a 16:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Southern is committed to student success; we work closely with students to ensure they meet their academic goals. And if you decide to attend Southern, the first undergraduate class is free through our SmartStart program.

It’s common to find students spontaneously praying or participating in an impromptu worship session on our campus. There are so many ways to grow in your faith at Southern, it’s easy to find one that will help you draw closer to Christ.

Enjoy the spiritual adventure of joining the nearly 100 student missionaries Southern sends around the world each year, or make a difference closer to campus. Student-led outreach groups help you match your talents with a ministry that cares for the elderly, feeds the homeless, or witnesses to the community in a variety of other ways. You can also get involved in one of our many on-campus small groups. And with 30 Adventist churches in the area, there are plenty of options for finding the right church family for you.

Power for Body

There’s ample space to engage in recreational activities on our 1,300-acre campus. Whether biking the Biology Trail, climbing the Goliath Wall, or exploring the cave on campus, there’s always something for the adventurous. Southern also offers an excellent intramural program in which more than half of the student body participates. Intramurals offer students the opportunity to build amazing friendships while playing the sports they love.

If you enjoy a regular workout, the Hulsey Wellness Center provides access to 100 workout stations along with fitness rooms, walking tracks, two indoor pools, and a climbing wall. Southern is the perfect place to develop a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
